What is the life of a fresh Indian civil servant (IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS, and other services) like? What are the initial years, salary, pressure, responsibilities, expectations, corrupt officers and politicians, nightlife, and social life like?
I don't know what you mean by ‘fresh’ but I have been into the services for last 3 months, so I am among the ‘freshest’ ones.
We have just completed our foundation course in Lbsnaa, Mussoorie. It was fun. We made new friends across all services. We went on to Himalayan trek for a week and a village visit (I went to firozabad Dist of UP).
We had many cultural program and India day celebration. We also had some book reviews and essays.
Many guest lecturers came including kiraṇ bedi, kiren rijiju, Najeeb Jung etc.
For valediction, president came.
Now, we all have split up, going to respective academies for professional trainings. I will go to Hyderabad.
We have decent salaries (being unmarried, its more than enough).
But at the same time, we realise that what we are selected for. Although being a fun period (lesser responsibilities), we are trying to learn as much as we can so that we can implement it on the field.
So all ’n all, the initial time of a civil servant is sort of fun.
its already two months in Hyderabad. the training here is very hectic and challenging but very interesting. we don’t get much leisure time but in a way we are learning the importance of time and discipline. we had amazing experience till now whose explanation will make this answer mile long.
P.S.- Hyderabad is nice place.
